I grew up a Minnesota North Star girl.. went to a ton of games when Gump Worsely, Bill Goldsworthy and others played. Then in NY we actually had dinner at a Japanese Restaurant with Rod Gilbert.

I got a Rod Gilbert jersey for Christmas one year.

Mike Gartner is the best player I ever saw. If you don't know how much of a scoring machine this guy was Google the name. The most underrated hockey player ever

Washington had some good teams in the 1980's. Just not good enough to win the Cup until 2018

I started following hocky in the 70's with the North Stars.. then in NY was a big Ranger fan but eventually the Dallas Stars won my allegiance. We have the NHL package so I'll be watching in a few short days

We're homers here so I pretty much only watch when the Bruins are in the playoffs though.

They even close schools for the State Championships and it's on the local network channels. By the time I graduated Hockey I think I could have been a ref. LOL

As a child we all had skates, some new, mostly used and we played hockey on frozen lakes and ponds. My kids started skating shortly after they could walk. I am that hockey mom, taking them to 5am hockey practice, then home to change and off to school. They still play, there are many adult leagues and is not uncommon to see men in their 70s and 80s still playing.

Down here near the coast is a bit warmer than upstate Massachusetts so we didn't have the outside ice to play on consistently. Some of the kids with money got to play at the local prep school so there was some pretty good hockey going on, just not with the crowd that I hung out with.

OU lost against the LongHorns, it was a historic loss 49-goose egg- but on the bright side the Michigan Wolverines won over Indiana 17-10! The Wolverines are moving the ball pretty darn good this year..
