I used to pay about $6 for FIVE dozen eggs two years ago. Last box I bought was $12.99. What happened between then and now? Joe Biden happened. But how is Joe Biden to blame for eggs going up here and in other countries? Isn't is more likely that Covid19 and the War happening is what has put us all in this predicament?

Well as many famous people have said 'When America sneezes, the world catches a cold.' Covid and the war are part of the problem but Biden cutting our oil production and promoting that war is a part of the problem.

Oy. I picked up some lettuce and at the checkout it was $9.00. Left it there. Covid supply issues plus increased fuel cost, worker shortages.... and some good old gouging is to blame.

The shortage was caused by unseasonably high temperatures and crop disease.Dec 12, 2022

The romaine here is $3.74. There appears to be no shortages.
Perhaps there is something else going on there?

Because the cost is going up in response to the energy costs (including fuel) going up.... and that's a DIRECT result of Biden's idiotic anti-"American Oil" policies. When the US was a net exporter, we literally controlled the world price of oil. When Biden ended that, we gave up that control.

The price of gas continues to drop where I live. Old anti-combustion engine Joe is slipping in his old age. Then you must live in a very unique place.

hmmm... not sure why you are all so surprised given the global economy. We (Canada) have been told for several months where we are headed. Economists at Canada's largest banks agree on the fact that Canada is heading towards a recession as early as the first quarter of 2023. Financial experts expect the economy to further slow down and technically enter a mild recession in the first half of 2023.

Now that that's over though, the price is going right back up (as expected).

We went from energy independent to now begging to buy the dirtiest oil in the world from Venezuela. Yup. The United States never stopped importing energy from foreign countries under President Donald Trump. Both before and after Russia's invasion of Ukraine contributed to a spike in US gas prices, various Republicans bashed President Joe Biden for supposedly abandoning Trump-era "energy independence." These Republicans have fostered the impression that the "energy independent" US did not need energy from Russia and elsewhere under Trump, but then, under Biden, has been forced to buy this foreign energy once more. The truth is that the US was never close to genuine independence from foreign energy in the Trump era. link

Most of the crude oil produced in Canada is shipped via pipeline from western provinces to refineries in the U.S., and in Quebec and Ontario.

If push came to shove (some sort of super anti-America embargo, for example), we could have halted exports and imports and been fine... we would even have had a surplus that we could have expanded our Strategic Reserves even more.

I think it's partly here as well. Eggs where I am are 5 to 6 bucks per dozen. I pay nothing of course. Well just feed and care for my chickens that's all. Prices for just about everything are through the roof right now. I wonder how some people survive? My friend wanted eggs. I was like, sure no problem. Understand, I'm not an egg guy. I'm like, 1.29 to 2.00 bucks no problem! 4.59 Word!?

Just bought eggs again yesterday... there were no "5 Dozen" boxes available, so I settled for an 18-count carton.$6.97.
While ringing up, the cashier let me know that the day before she rang up one of those "5 Dozen" boxes... for "$19 and change"(her words). The same size box that a few weeks ago I had paid $12 for.... and a few months ago I paid $8 for.
