That was something I missed the hit, and they didn't show it on TV- I only got to see how it happened on youtube. I turned on the TV to watch the ball game and the event already just happened. They just described the hit. No replays. I heard it said that can happen if you get hit in the chest at a certain way right when the heart is between beats or something- it's rare the timing has to be exact. That is what happened to kids playing baseball and they get hit in the chest at the right time with the baseball and they collapse. Maybe some sort of chest protection should be used in games like that- only thing is the event is so rare they say it never happened before in football. Some call football a contact sport, but actually it's more of a collision sport guys are running into each other the whole time. The hit was nothing out of the ordinary. In fact I would not say it was the cause at this point. It may not have been a out of the ordinary hit- but could of been the timing, word is if you get hit in the chest at the exact right nano second when the heart is between beats or something it can dis-rupt the rhythm of the ticker. The guy was healthy before the hit so we know the chest hit caused the issue. Talk is now of a chest guard for sports, it can't hurt to use that, even though those heart hits are very rare. As mentioned sometimes kids playing baseball get hit in the chest and collapse so there seems to be some connection, unless that person has some sort un-discovered heart defect.

I guess he's comin' around. I dunno why his lungs were damaged too, I would think once they got his ticker going he'd be ok- guess there is more to it than that. I bet it was a shock to him the last thing he remember was being on the football field and then waking up in the hospital. He's not able to talk but he writes stuff down, he asked who won the ball game. Hope he gets well fast, there will also be alot to learn about what happened to him and those kind of chest injuries.

Sadly he's done. Buffalo isn't going to take a chance on him. Business wise I understand. I hope they will pay him whatever is in his contract however. If not the owner is a POS....

Indeed, it'll be risky to take Hamlin back- not much is known about those kinds of injuries and if it happened once maybe it could happen again. Perhaps Hamlin's body is more suptable to those type of injuries than other people. I guess they will pay him to as what his contract requires.

Chris Pronger took a slapshot to the heart that stopped his heart. He was back 4 days later and went on to have a very long successful career. Shame on the Bills if he wants to play and they won't take him back.

I think his decision to return needs to be made made on the advice of his medical team. As stated earlier, Chris Pronger, who suffered a similar injury, was able to return in a few days. That has not been the case here. Totally different scenario.

Our local news did a report on that kind of heart failure and it may not be from getting a hit to the heart at the wrong time between beats as is thought- it's likely a heart defect undetected and then taking a hit to the heart, a school was giving students heart screenings and they already found two kids with un-diagnosed heart defects. IMO it's likely to be some kind of combo with a hit to the heart plus a heart defect. A normal healthy heart getting a hit to the heart may not cause a failure. This all seems to be something new, mostly because it's so rare. It'll be interesting to follow this subject to see how it pans out.
The biggest shock to my ticker that I ever had was doing the polar bear plunge, I dunno how that stacks up to a hit to the heart. That first jump into the icy water is a shocker of a shocker your whole body feels it & goes numb with pins 'n' needles- takes your breath away. I can see how a defective heart can go into some sort of arrest mode like that.

It's not likely his doctors will release the true facts to the public Some are questioning if the heart attack was a result of his forced jab and not a result of playing football. Many people are falling over dead from heart attacks who had no history of heart issue, Lisa Marie Priestley is one.

There are frightening amounts of blood clots being happening in the public population along with heart attacks, questions are raised about, the you know what that can't be mentioned. We never had sudden heart attacks like this before or blood clots happening at this rate- what has changed in the past few years to cause this?
