A pan fried Grilled cheese sandwich Hm, golden yes, burnt, not so much. Grilled cheese needs to be done low and slow.

The edges of a fried egg when they get crispy. Yes, but that is browned not blackened. I think there is a big difference between the two. It said a little burnt, not incinerated. And there are many chefs that will say no fried egg should ever be crispy.

I like the underside of the yolk a little brown too. And the yolk should be slightly firm. That for me is perfect. I like mine sunny side up, full runny yolk.

And let's not forget lasagna! Who doesn't love the brown, crunchy cheese on top?

The edges of a fried egg when they get crispy. frying eggs in bacon grease gives you that frilly, crinkly edge. and that great bacon flavor.

i remember one of my grandmothers having a toaster like this... i.ebayimg.com/images/g/8-0AAOSwQIZi9bNq/s-l1600.jpgno settings. not timer. turn your back for a mili-second and your toast was toast. only did one side at a time... you had to turn bread around to toast the other side. i wonder if anybody makes a modern/retro model.
