have always love gospel music. i remember seeing the Clara Ward Singers on TV... probably on Ed Sullivan. thos gowns. those massive hairdos.
then there's The Staple Singers... love Mavis!
always wished i could learn gospel style piano.
watched "Leap of Faith" with steven martin and cast. about traveling tent revivals. great gospel sound track.

misspi, I think you'll enjoy this video Carman recorded with Carlton Pearson. I have always loved Rev. Pearson but sadly we parted ways Theologically some years ago.

Raised in the south, the son of a Southern Baptist elder of a large church, I know and like many spirituals. Likely the most famous being "Amazing Grace" but do you know the history of the song? Even without the history lesson, I like this version. He almost loses the crowd, but brings them back in song.
