Canada wildfires: Officials warn of 'explosive' wildfire seasonCanada's government says it is preparing for another "explosive" wildfire season, for which it is training extra firefighters. A warmer-than-normal winter has left little snow on the ground and has compounded droughts in several regions. Last year was by far Canada's worst for wildfires, with 15 million hectares (37 million acres) of forest burned. A minister warned that this year could prove even more devastating. The summer was impossible to predict, but wildfires would continue to pose a "significant challenge" for the foreseeable future, said Harjit Sajjan, the minister for emergency preparedness. At a news conference, Mr Sajjan called attention to "extreme drought conditions" in southern Alberta, British Colombia and Southern Ontario. He said above-normal temperatures had also caused earlier snow-melts, and that heat and dryness nationwide meant that the wildfire season was likely to start sooner. www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68789278

Fire season is awful. Hopefully a wet spring might help but I'm not counting on it.

Well, we are due to have a 3 day rain event. But then it's sunny and dry again.
I am also not looking forward to the intense heat. I am surrounded by forests, so if a wild fire broke out around here, there'd be nothing to do but run.
My family and I have actually talked about the best route to take if such an event did occur. It's best to be prepared. Luckily we have a few options. A few roads in and out of this area.

Canada needs to thin out the forests or do "raking" as they call it in Europe, allow more logging to take place would help but ya got environmentalists who are against everything. They had a hands off policy in Yellowstone Park before 1988, when that massive wildfire hit Yellowstone in 1988 they started to clear the forests of trees and dead wood and since then they had no big fires in Yellowstone Park. Fire needs fuel to burn no fuel no fires.

There were so many wild fires last year.
According to the experts this year will be worse.
I am worried about it, for sure.

Heck no, that would offend the environmentalists just think of all the wonderful fire fumes and global warming gases being released because they don't wanna trim back the forest.

They need to open up all those forests for logging and thin it out, but they don't wanna do that. Yellowstone Park had a massive wildfire in 1988 and since then they kept it trim and cut down trees and as far as I know they had no wildfire there since.

Open up logging and clear cut the forests into blocks, get rid of the undergrowth. Even if a fire starts it can't burn very far. It would also flood the market with lumber lowering the price of lumber. It also would makes tons of jobs.
