Who should pay for that? Taxpayers? they already pay for it. cept now they dont do it. But they do. And for all the mitigation that is done, wind will spread it far and wide beyond the mitigation. |

Ya, many towns do have fire breaks but to what end. When the wind picks up the ambers have crossed lakes. gee..and thats never happened before ...lol you do what you can. Ya its a laugh riot.  |

I do, and they take mitigation very seriously here. And no, they don't clear cut forests anymore. |

Thousands of Fort McMurray residents headed south to safety as a large out-of-control wildfire drew closer to their community, but many are worried they won't have a home to return to. An evacuation order was issued Tuesday afternoon for the neighbourhoods of Beacon Hill, Abasand, Prairie Creek and Grayling Terrace, as the wildfire southwest of the community continues to grow. Other areas in Fort McMurray remain on evacuation alert and residents need to be ready to leave on short notice. For some Fort McMurray residents, having to leave home due to the threat of wildfire is a familiar and bitter experience. "Nothing can prepare you," Aleks Mortlock said as he recalled having his home destroyed in the 2016 fire. linkEight years ago they evacuated roughly 88,000 people from the city and surrounding area because of a wild fire. There's only one highway going through it so their options were limited. |
