Also, a SPELLING one: familiar and similar are NOT spelled the same

Well, one of the many ways in which American and British speakers of English differ is in the way they use 'different.'
We say 'different from;' Americans say 'different than.'
And Americans seem strangely reluctant to use the present perfect tense!
So, for example, where we would say 'you haven't washed the car yet' an American would say 'you didn't wash the car yet!'

I have sent emails and texts off in which the fricking spell check has changed my words to mean something ludicrous. It's embarrassing for sure. I need to check my typing better before sending stuff off.
