I don't follow tennis normally which I find boring but I have to congratulate Emma on winning the US open at the age of 18 and, amazingly, as a qualifier. Before the tournament she was ranked WAY down but now she'll be a real force in the game for years to come.
The Queen has already congratulated her on her astonishing win!

Yes, Romanian. But luckily I don't care about her ethnicity in that sort of way. I'm just proud of her achievements just as I am of Anthony Joshua or Jofra Archer or Marcus Rashford. To me, it makes no difference if the person I'm cheering on is white or black or anything else - if they represent my country I'm proud of them!#

Congratulations to her on a truly historic and unprecedented victory ! It certainly makes up for the disappointment of losing Euro 2020 in the final. Commiserations to her opponent, Leylah Fernandez, who also played very well. I'm very excited to see how both of their careers develop.

Just that her being of color and probably of immigrant parents and only 18 says a lot I think in this day and age of racial inequality. For people like you and me (or color) it says something I think. The fact that she cut through all that, and at her age, we can all be proud of that I think, no matter what color or race we are. Because it could not have been easy. The day she won she was not 'My people' or 'Your people', she was just British and a winner.
