As a Brit/Pom, I'm afraid I support England during the Ashes! We've got (I think) a unique double with both the men and women being number one in Test cricket right now! I used to play and I love the game and I hope the Aussie members here (I'm a Londoner and I love the down to earthness of the Aussies) won't mind me crowing a bit! (Being a Brit, we don't get many chances to do that!)

Well, well done to them! I don't know much about Cricket, but I hear that England is one of the best teams out there.

Test cricket is one of the most boring games to watch. 5 Days from morning to evening, and at the end of it..... No decision.

These things go in cycles anyway. For a long time the Aussies were number one - before them the West Indies dominated. In the last few years it's fluctuated a bit
My advice to the Aussies would be to work hard on their bowling. I know a bloke like Shane Warne is impossible to replace but the Aussie spinners that they've used since then haven't been IMO remotely up to Test class.
Hilfenhaus is good, Siddal either brilliant or awful, Johnston wayward but can be effective.
You need a lot more consistency in your fast bowlers and you have to find a half-decent spinner.
Right now, Anderson, Broad, Swann and various permutations of support bowlers are pretty well dominating the batsmen!

AND - no home advantage for the english either which is why i'm tellin ya - enjoy the #1 slot for the english summer is going to come to an end pretty soon ;D :brishti

Clarke and Ponting are coming to the end of their careers; their bowling is still wildly inconsistent; and England are full of confidence after a great run. I think we'll still hold on to the Ashes and stay number one for a while.
