A new, inexpensive catalyst speeds the production of oxygen from waterphys.org/news/2022-02-inexpensive-catalyst-production-oxygen.htmlAn electrochemical reaction that splits apart water molecules to produce oxygen is at the heart of multiple approaches aiming to produce alternative fuels for transportation. But this reaction has to be facilitated by a catalyst material, and today's versions require the use of rare and expensive elements such as iridium, limiting the potential of such fuel production.
Now, researchers at MIT and elsewhere have developed an entirely new type of catalyst material, called a metal hydroxide-organic framework (MHOF), which is made of inexpensive and abundant components. The family of materials allows engineers to precisely tune the catalyst's structure and composition to the needs of a particular chemical process, and it can then match or exceed the performance of conventional, more expensive catalysts.

Been following this for years !
All for it.
Way better than the electric car route with their inefficient heavy batteries.

Fuel cells were all the rage back in the 1990's, dunno why they faded away.

Fuel cells were all the rage back in the 1990's, dunno why they faded away. Opec cut back on the embargo nonsense and cheap oil flowed again, killing the research.

One issue I see is the tailpipe spews out water vapor- and we all know water vapor is one of the biggest greenhouse gases there is. So I dunno how that play out.

Hydrogen? Sound pretty safe not for blimps Dirigibles are probably pretty green when they're not bursting into flames and causing reporters to exclaim "oh the humanity!"

Holds a huge amount of energy compared to carbon, the wavelength overlaps also. The nightime temp can never go below the dewpoint because of this. It is a stickler, when talking AGW.

because global warming is bs We've been in a warming period since the end of the little ice age. It's quite real.
