Hey gang I was playing old vinyl records last nite and I read the back cover of the old 1964 "Meet The Beatles" Album. Wow things must of been totally crazy during the Beatles era, I was only in 3rd grade. Some kids brought a Beatle record to school and played it on the classroom record player- and yeah that Beatle sound was something else not heard before. It must have been a huge thing because even my parents bought the Beatle Album I now have.
Anyhoo, the back of the album said things like:
In Newcastle England Beatle fans stood in pouring rain, and in Portsmouth The Queue started 90 hours before the office opened up, teens brought transistor radios and two determined 16 year old chicks spent 4 nites outside to hold their place in the Queue- In Carlisle frantic school girls battled cops for 4 hours in a effort to gain admission to a sold out show. A London reporter Anne Butler had her hand kissed then her gloved hand brushed against the jacket of a Beatle and things like that.
The Beatles 2nd Album talks about more the big beat and the latest & newest Beatle songs. Hard to believe it's now 60 years ago.
Anyhoo for a old mono records they both really still play great, and sounds great no scratches or '"pops".

I have a cd called "Best of the Rolling Stones" I never knew this but many of their songs were about tragedy or bad things happening such as "Paint It Black" and even "Ruby Tuesday".

I have the original White Album. I was offered money for it back in the 80's but just couldn't part with it. I'm not a big Stones fan but I own just about every album Carlos Santana has done and all but the new (his daughter is releasing) Tom Petty album. Some on cd as well so the albums stay in good shape.

BTW I heard theres a weird story behind the song "I want you to want me" by Cheap Trick I guess it was recorded live in 1978, I forgot what or why it was weird. Anyone have a quad stereo record~ they are now valuable as a collector item. Quad stereo busted on the music scene in the late 1970's and then it vanished as fast as it arrived. By 1980 it was gone. They argued how can you hear true quad if you only have two ears? How do you get quad sound from a two-sided record groove? And of course if God had wanted us to listen in Quad he would of given us 4 ears.

I have a couple of original Vinyl records that I brought over from the UK. I had to leave most of them behind, as well as hundreds of books I just love the unique sound of vinyl.

I have no idea where my records went. I didn't have a big collection or anything, but I had some albums I really liked. I'm guessing I probably gave them to someone during one of my moves.

I have some old 78's from my grandmother that she brought over here from Germany around the flip of the 1900 century, sung in German. My mother has some old 78's from the 1930's & 1940's.
There was a test done-(I guess many tests have been done thru the years) about what sounds better music on a cd or vinyl and the results were it's all on personal taste there really is no difference between the two formats, when played on professional equipment.. Some say vinyl can seem a bit "warmer". I was surprised when I read that, I always thought vinyl to be better.

The Beatles era must of been really crazy I was too little to understand or pay attention to that, chicks were always jumping at the Beatles, they swarmed airports tried to grab a Beatle, cops had a hard time protecting them, old film clips show swarms of women chasing the Beatles. That's one problem I would not mind having, swarms of chicks chasing after me. Anyhoo, I don't think anything like that has happened since to other rock groups They came on the scene pretty fast, 1n 1962 the Beatles were still pretty much a unknown singing in foreign night clubs.
The one guy who got hurt the most was Peter Best the first drummer for the Beatles, when he was replaced by Ringo, he drifted into the unknowns of history, he started his own band but never became like the Beatles.

Don't feel too bad for Pete Best. When the Beatles compilation album Anthology 1 was released in 1995 Best received his share of royalties, and experts speculated that he got somewhere around $9 million or more. An excellent movie about the Beatles is "Good Ol’ Freda," about Freda Kelly, who was the Beatles devoted secretary and friend from the very beginning. Hmmm... might be time to watch it again.

It was a different time and a different era, I remember listing to my dads transistor radio to CKLW radio "the Big 8" as they called it from Canada, it was one of the most popular teen music stations in the metro Detroit area. The other teen station was KNER 13 from Detroit. I was 'round 12 years old it was 1966.
In the 1950's and even in the 1960's before tape players and 8-track tapes were invented kids installed car record players in their cars I guess it was installed under the dash, I dunno how they hooked it up or if it used the regular car radio speakers for the record players.
That was all they had back then. I can't see how a car record player would work if you hit the slightest bump the needle would jump & skip, unless it was used when the car was parked only.

LOL... he didn't say anything when he shot me the finger several hours after the concert ended, outside the stadium when he was chatting up some pretty young things and smoking a cig, and I snapped a picture with my Instamatic. Our car had broken down and two of us were camped out near the public phones waiting for a call-back.
