The state of New York is following in California’s footsteps with a zero-emissions vehicle law that will require all new vehicles sold in the state to be zero emissions by 2035. Gov. Kathy Hochul is implementing this rule via directive to the State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). The DEC will then regulate these rules into effect — the directive is similar in nature to California’s stepped approach. By model year 2026, New York would require 35% of sales to be zero-emissions vehicles. By 2030, that figure jumps up to 68% of sales. And then finally in 2035, it switches over to 100% of vehicle sales needing to be of zero-emissions vehicles. These rules will apply to “all new sales of passenger cars, pickup trucks, and SUVs.” autos.yahoo.com/york-require-car-sales-zero-144500558.html

Most of the taxis here are EV's. It makes sense with the cost of gas.

They are giving people 13 years for this. We can't keep being idiots about this. We have to switch from fossil fuels or we will need to find a new planet to live on. Name me one that can sustain human life besides this one? YOu can't pull arbitrary "years" out of your behind and demand something that really isn't feasible or desirable. We don't have enough lithium mines to ever source batteries on that massive scale. WHere do propose that people in Apts charge their cars? And on and on. It's a STUPID plan and not even reasonable in real market terms. ANd, now that Joey Robinette has thrust many into poverty, adding a charging station to their home to buy a car where it costs $20k to replace a battery isn't really on the agenda of most people. Oil/gas/coal are all NATURAL Products.

It's a nice dream if you don't consider the details. It will get pushed forward even more years unless there is some kind of miraculous tech breakthrough. Glad I don't live there. I am sure that technology will advance.
