What's standing in the way of the flying car? The era of the flying car appears to be coming closer – but huge challenges remain to be solved.A new era of flight is about to take off. On 12 June 2023, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a Special Airworthiness Certificate to a flying car model developed by Alef Aeronautics, allowing the aircraft to fly in limited locations for exhibition, research and development. Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is an umbrella term for passenger or cargo-carrying flying aircraft that are highly automated. Often referred to as air taxis or vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft, these vehicles in theory offer faster, safer door-to-door transport. Neither physical infrastructure or traffic jams on the ground will slow them down. Although the flying car is still somewhat pie-in-the-sky, Alef's recognition by the FAA marks a turning point in the future of air mobility. But there may still be plenty of challenges to solve before flying cars become reality in cities around the world – not least the constant drone and whoosh of flying cars as they pass by, take off or land. www.bbc.com/future/article/20230714-whats-standing-in-the-way-of-the-flying-car

You'd need a pilots license, what will be done with flying cars crashing over someones home or a playground? What about flaying cars going into the airspace of aircraft? If ya want to fly get a plane. What about teens in flying cars tossing things out the window over someones house? The cost to insure a flying car will be more than the cost to insure an aircraft. It's just a pipe dream. The car future will be battery cars and they won't have the power to fly anyhow, if they did just think if your flying along in your car and the battery runs low and you end up crashing on a building!

People. I don't want people using flying cars who think, signal lights are used in the middle of a turn, a yellow light means speed up and a stop sign means almost stop.

I'm not standing in the way of ANY car, flying or not. Those things hurt when they hit you!

I like the idea of a flying car. I'd drive a little, then fly a little and drive again! I have no idea how anyone could control the sky traffic, but it does sound like fun.

It'll be a real mess from mid-air crashes to crashes with aircraft to landing to park, then toss in foul weather and fog the driver would need a pilots license and there would have to be some sort of air traffic control for cars. Think of some teens flying over a house and 'buzzing' that house or tossing trash out the window into someones back yard, or people flying over or hoovering over females sunbathing. Drinking teens flying or teens high on M.J. flying in a car. Traffic jams in the air would result in people getting mad and flying off around the traffic jam into air space they should not be in.

Actually a flying car would have to have wings to get the 'lift' needed to become airborne, unless they have a prop on top like a helicopter. How the heck would that work? You'd need a pilots license either way, and a flying car with wings would also need flaps and a tail fin for 'lift' so the driver would have to adjust those and would a flying cars also need a runway? Imagine taking a flying car to a store or Wal-Mart parking lot and when you leave you'd need a runway to get up enough speed. I guess the wings could fold up when ya park.
