We are having a lot of people over to our house on Saturday to watch England vs USA. My husband is English, but has lived here in the US for many years. I think it will be fun.
I plan to keep up with the World Cup games. It's easy for me because I am a teacher, and school will be over soon. However... today's game was a big issue at my school. Mexico played South Africa at the same time that our top grade at school was having their graduation ceremony. And since a lot of my school's population is of Mexican heritage many of the students, parents, and teachers were none too happy to have to miss the game.

livaco, there must have been a lot of excitement over that particular match. It's amazing how patriotic we can all be, no matter that we no longer live in our 'mother' country anymore. So, who won? Spindrift, I might watch the finals, but that's about it. I should try and spend some times watching them really...

Mexico and South Africa tied 1-1. The England vs USA game starts in a few hours.

I guess the games must all be aired at the same time around the world?

well i have a ticket for for the last 16. Watched France play and being at the stadium was really nice.
Last 16 could be Spain against Portugal or Brazil.

I'm a bit lost when it comes to soccer. James, what do you mean the 'last 16'?
Who do you think will win this?

Well the French were a bit quiet but the Urug's were nice and vocal. Beating their drums and singing....vuvuzela made too much noise though and it's blown by foreigners as well as locals.
But a very nice experience.
Last 16 is after group matches. Knockout matches begin and after last 16 it's Quarter finals, Semis and final.

Looks like the underdogs are doing well in this world cup. Kind of good to see.

So Spain won the World Cup. Right near the end of over time. Well done to them. Did anyone else see the game? I'm surprised flew back to Spain just a few hours after. No point in hanging around I guess.
