OHD, that looks like a seal used on legal documents. You got it, menantol! I got it and some mining utilities at an auction for a long defunct, Black Diamond Mines,(silicon) near Pittsburg and Antioch, CA in Contra Costa County. The whole area is a regional park, now. It's a beautiful place with a couple of "ghost towns." One is Nortonville, and the other is Sommersville, CA. There is a beautiful little cemetery there too, with graves of mostly people from Wales. My wife and I used to love to go for long hikes in the valleys there. It's just a few miles inland from San Pablo Bay, over the hills past Berkeley and Oakland. Peace, OHD

I think older folks are more likely to be able to identify this. This sets in my den too, so please pardon its dustiness. View AttachmentPeace, OHD hmm... is it a kind of tap for water or something else? confused0006 Looks kind of like that, but menantol got it! It reminds me of a goat ram's head. 4chsmu1 Peace, OHD

a chip of the old block Correct!! greenstars Think maybe it was too easy, I was going to make it easier by writing a date on on the block like 6040BC but I though if I did that I might as well have just given the answer sign0020 Your go!!

ok
what is it It could be any number of things. It appears to be comprised of a cast iron guide set on a porcelain base and as such I'm guessing it is indoors for usage. I'm not sure why but it makes me think of an older design for a baby crib to guide the sliding rail sides.
Looking at it a little more and focusing on the porcelain base with the cast iron holder (which by the way looking at the sides has been cut to shape) it may be more likely to be some form of electrical insulator.

I have something to offer but I don't know how to get the picture to travel with it. If it is a picture on your computer you can upload it to a picture hosting site such as.. tinypic.com/and then link to it. That require you to create an account (simple (email/password) to do and you can use it for other pictures). Or you could use a temporary storage site like this (up to 28 days), no registration is required, you just select a picture to up load an it give you a like to use in a forum. www.tiikoni.com/tis/

I thought this would be an easy one!
Clue: It's from my collection of photos that I took during my India Journey.

What's this odd looking instrument, setting in my den? View Attachment< Click to enlarge.Peace, OHD Is that a ukulele? Still looks in good shape! I couldn't figure out exactly what it was, then I saw a dusty beige label, with black print, pasted on the inside. I can't make it all out, but it is indeed a "uke," in fact it says "Violin-Uke." I'm going to check it later and look at it with a 10X magnifying glass and tell you more about it. I can see its original price!"$35.00." It appears to be well over a hundred years old, so that would have been a helluva lotta money!! 4chsmu1 Peace, OHD
