Wow that picture you took looks so much similar to this one I took: So the British Squirrels don't have such busy tails then? It doesn't look as bushy does it? Maybe it is becasue it is a younger squirrel. Grey squirrels are not native to the UK, they were introduced I think, indeed wikipedia says they are from the USA and are Eastern Gray squirrels, there are also Western Gray squirrels in the USA but I don't think it one of them. Also there seem to be some differences in the colouring, mine has no brown in its tail and has more white in it, on it's underbelly and also a white band from under it's ear to it's neck which yours does not seem to have. Nice picture btw!

Arh I see. That makes sense then. The grey one there is the common kind that we get around here. I hear there is a certain species that is protected and they cannot be hunted down, not sure which ones they are though. Black squirrels are not seen here at all. Or at least I have never seen one. But I did see them in Montreal.
By the way, I think I still have that family of squirrels living in the old shed in my garden. Not only that but I seem to have accumulated tons of moles or gophers this year. They are digging holes in my grass something rotten. I assume they must have nested under the new shed. There is quite a bit of space and quite covered up for them to do this.

We have red squirrels in the UK too, they are the native species but they as not doing as well as the grey squirrels which I see all the time, I have only see a few red squirrels, in the local big park, all the ones I see in gardens tend to grey.
There were squirrels in my roof a while back apparently!! I only found out from the neighbour of the a joining house, I had hear something but I though it was birds, wood pigeons. They have gone now though, they block up where they were getting in. The bricks are quite rough so they can easily climb the walls.
I think the red squirrel is a protected species in the UK whereas the grey is considered more of a pest, however I like to see them, the grays seem to be happier around humans which is why they seem to have squatted in your shed I suppose!
I never really seen a mole, I don't think they prefer more rural areas.

I think the British squirrel is the most handsome!!( at least the one I snapped). Seems to have a longer tail too? I have never seen a black squirrel, I am pretty sure we only have red and grey ones in the UK. I found a picture on-line of a gray squirrel in my local park and it is much more like the one Deyana posted than mine. This is a red squirrel but they are much less common than the grey ones. Quite a nice picture!(not one I took I might add).

It is a great photo isn't it?
I wonder how they managed to capture that?
It looks very close to the camera and I doubt a squirrel would go that close to a human, I think it is close as the squirrel is sharp focus where as the rest is not.
Maybe it was taken by a remote camera with some food to entice it?

I reckon it must have been taken by a very expensive camera. And with a zoom that has a good close-up range. And a lot of luck!
Animals are very hard to capture on film properly.
