Spinny kindly shared a recipe for Pavlova on a previous thread.
How about sharing your favourite or something that is part of your culture?

I'll try and think of some recipes, Ruth. I'm not much of a cook, and don't know too much about Indian cookery either.

Pechguas de pollo glaseado con miel picante en salsa del naranha
Orange chicken (dunno who sent this to me, but I modified it...)
I swear by the taste because I love this dish. Original spanish dish from Murica. I read and saw it cooked and tasted it. Since it is really simple dish, you can have with brad or saffron yellow rice and glass of sangria. I added a bit of a masala twist to it.
Ingredients:
4 pieces of chicken breasts skinned cleaned. 2-3 big spoons of local honey 1/2 spoons of masala* 1 cup of orange juice 1 sliced lemon 1/4 cup of olive oil 1/2 stick of local butter 1 medium orange rind** Salt,Pepper, herbs to taste.
Preparation:
Mix honey, masala and salt and little olive oil. Throughly mix it in the pieces of chicken breasts. Let it marinate for 1-2 hour.
In a pot, heat oil and butter till it is hot. Add chicken and keep stirring constantly till they are opaque and outer surface begins to look brownish. Pour the orange juice, and thin slices of rind. Constantly stir the chicken in the resultant sauce for about 5 minutes. Then cover the pot, reduce the flames to really low for next 10 minutes. In between keep flipping the chicken. Taste the sauce, if too thick and bland, add more orange juice, and pepper (black/white/red).
Place slices of lemon on top of the chicken pieces, and remove the pot from the stove. Let it cool for a few minutes. Toss fresh herbs. I substituted rosemary with parsley, and mint instead of oregano.

[Posted recently to my friends]So I was lazy and yet hungry, it was quite late for a full meal - So I made this with what I had... Plus I am leaving town for a few weeks, so didnt want to leave potatoes to grow sprouts. And boy, was this heavenly. You know some foods are better than sex. This is one of them foods Soul Food #1. ---------------------------------- 4-5 medium sized potatoes (2 lbs approx) 3/4 stick (3 tbsp) unsalted butter 2 spoon of chopped garlic 1/2 cup of chives, coriander leaves 1 cup whole milk (or 1/2 cup heavy cream.) 1/2 tea spoon mix of black pepper, white pepper Salt to taste Chop the potatoes into small chunks. Boil till they are tender, or microwave them for 5-8 minutes till soft. Add the potatoes, butter, garlic in the food processor. Puree it till smooth. Add 1 cup of the milk through the top and continue to process until the mixture is smooth. Put the potato mixture in a empty microwave container Mix in the chive+coriander and salt & pepper, microwave it for 3-4 minutes at two minute mark remove whip with spoon or fork. Serve when it cools down a bit.

A couple really good recipes there, nycank.
slowhand, I like boiled eggs too in the morning. Fried always makes me feel sick for some reason. I usually put mine in cold water and boil for 10 minutes, it comes our fine each time. The other ways is to boil the water first and put the eggs in for 4 minutes.

Where do you buy your Masala paste? or do you make it yourself? can you tell me how? Local store for Masala. I also get MDH or Shaan brand spice mixes. If one can get masalas in Americas, UK but have them by the dozens. Forget making your own masala, its mostly done by hand-me-down recipe-mixes for grinding masalas.

I only boil eggs when I am making potato salad and I usually just put the eggs in with the potatoes to boil. I must admit I never note the time.
So what is the perfect boiled egg?

Cheese cake (sinful)
1 packet of coconut or ginger biscuits 250g Butter 2 x 500ml double whipped cream 1 x 500ml Marscapone 2 x 250ml Cottage cheese 1 punnet x Freshly sliced strawberries (blueberries/balckberries or rasberries also works) 2 slabs of white chocolate
Crumble biscuits and add melted butter. Flatten into baking tin. Leave in fridge to set for an hour. If you buy thick double cream doesn't need whipping but if it is still runny whip till it peaks Add the mascarpone, cottage cheese. Melt the white chocolate and add to the cream, mascarpone and cottage cheese mix. Feel consistency to ensure that it is nice and thick. Add the berries. Pour into baking tin and add berries to decorate. Set in fridge for rest of day. Take out and Serve. BTW good treat in bed with the other half - especially if you feed them.
