If you've ever been to a Chili's, you've probably noticed that, among the Tex-Mex flair, every table has a tablet. People use them for all sorts of things, from letting kids play dollar games to help keep them occupied to folks browsing the menu to see what sort of appetizers they'd like to order. Sure, it's probably not a sight you'd think twice about. After all, Applebee's installed tablets at all US locations back in 2013, via Nation's Restaurant News, and Olive Garden introduced them back in 2015, via FSR Magazine). For as far as you know, the tablets are mainly there to let you put in your order if your waiter or waitress isn't around.Of course, there's another reason that Chili's puts those tablets there, and the truth is that it may be influencing you in a subconscious way. According to a recent report, the device actually operates the same way a commercial or a roadside billboard does -- and you don't even know it.

I hate those tablets on the table. Everyone pawing them with their hands. I think they are unsanitary. And no I don't really want to use them

I never noticed them but then I do mostly carry-outz!
That's kinda like what the movie theaters did long ago I think the process had been outlawed.
They used to put a single frame in the movie film of a food item like popcorn, it went by on the screen so fast no one noticed it but it somehow registered in the sub-conscious and then suddenly everyone was hungry for popcorn and people went to the lobby to buy popcorn, or coke or a hot dog what ever the picture was.

It's hard to believe but it seems to be true and it seemed to work.
As a matter of fact there was a "Columbo" episode about that very thing and they explained it to Columbo how it works.

LaGuardia has them in the Delta Terminal, they are EVERYWHERE. I can see them in waiting areas but at the restaurants is annoying. Same as people on their cell phones while eating.
