A North Carolina school baptized more than 100 kids without parental permission or attendance:'Mama, can you bring me some dry clothes?' A North Carolina school baptized more than 100 students without asking permission from their parents, The Fayetteville Observer reported on Friday. When parents learned that their children had been baptized at the Northwood Temple Academy, they were upset. "My daughter calls me from the school and says,'Mama, can you bring me some dry clothes? I got baptized today,'" one parent told the Observer."I said,'WHAT?'" That parent told the Observer that she learned her 11-year-old daughter had been baptized while she was at work on a conference call. A few students had actually been scheduled to be baptized, Northwood Principal Renee McLamb told the Observer. But then the rest of the students felt moved to join in on the ceremony, McLamb said, adding that she didn't intend for the event to be a secret from parents. "Truly, the Lord began to move this morning and we were so excited about what the Lord was doing. Several students had given their lives to the Lord during Spiritual Emphasis Week and they were scheduled to be baptized this morning," she said in an email to the Observer."But the Spirit of the Lord moved and the invitation to accept the Lord and be baptized was given and the students just began to respond to the presence of the Lord." www.yahoo.com/news/north-carolina-school-baptized-more-161032046.html

At 11 they felt moved to join in? Not buying THAT. The ones scheduled to be baptized should have been the ONLY ones baptized. Not sure what the damages are honestly. I was baptized in the spring of 1975 when I was 16

First I think this this principal is lying through her teeth and secondly I hope whatever fake deity she is talking about has a big check book because I can see more than a couple lawsuits... I'm curious, what would be the basis for a lawsuit ? Since you mentioned checkbook, that would be redressability. Have these parents suffered a financial loss due to this activity ? I'm guessing you spend more time 'barstool bragging' vs time in a courtroom ? Nice, ex-wife was an attorney and I can copy and paste as well.. Mental, which many on forums are, distress can be claimed with almost any situation and considering this involves children under the age of consent in NC the parents can claim the school went against wishes...

Mental, which many on forums are, distress can be claimed with almost any situation and considering this involves children under the age of consent in NC the parents can claim the school went against wishes... Of course, one can claim just about anything upon filing. Being the plaintiffs, the parents are burdened with proving their wishes were known. Baptism, having no meaning outside of the belief system, is a dunk in the water. Wouldn't want to be the one trying to prove the causality for harm on that one. Maybe the cost of runnng the dryer for 30 minutes as redress ? Probably way more feasible to go through the school board to eliminate the 'problem', than the hyperbolic approach suggested by a yahoo article. Does sell add banners when you retain the target audience. I don't disagree with anything you have said but we both know that society has become so litigious over the last 25 years that even tripping over an ant will get you a half a million dollars...I have not doubt that these parents have already contacted an attorney or have been contacted by one...
