Saw this recently: Any thoughts? Has Obama been a good President so far? Under the circumstances that the USA was left in, I think he's done pretty good. Not sure if anyone could have done it better. But then again, I'm not an expert on US politics and I know some that really feel he is falling very short of being a good leader. Any thoughts on this?

i believe he has done a good job.. and would definitely get my vote... that list could be longer if the republicans was fighting against everything he is trying to accomplish.... he has undone most of what bush took 8 years to mess up... in 3 years... lets give him another 4 and us will be again

I heartily agree. A pity we are to be denied the fun of having a newt standing against him. He would probably accuse Obama of being republican.

I'm not an Obama fan and if I was a US citizen I'd have voted McCain in 2008. On the other hand, the bunch of losers the Republicans are putting up against him make even Obama look bearable!
Come in, Condi Rice, PLEASE!

obama has done more than an adequate job. his failing has been his naivete and softness in trying to deal with the republican nutjobs instead of just jamming it down their throats. compromise is a fine thing, but ONLY when the compromise accomplishes your objective. my biggest disappointment with him, aside from forcing real healthcare, is his failure to make good on his promise to dismantle nafta

I give Obama a C-. He has elected to play political games to often and has failed in what I viewed as his number one job. He has not united the people. It can be argued we are more divided than ever and as the leader, we must, place at least some of the blame upon him.
The above stated, Obama has had to deal with many challenges never seen by past presidents. A total collapse of the world's economy, a war against ghost, a hatred towards him buried in racism, and lets not forget his birth. Clearly not easy things to overcome.
I don't think it's fair to blame quote "republican nutjobs". We know Democrats have just as many nuts and many of them have falling far from the tree. There are many extremes with-in both sides and most of us lie somewhere in between.
As for who'll I'll vote for.... That's a personal decision I have yet come to grips with, but I will say that I'm saddened by the lack of decent candidates that has been put forth to oppose Obama. I don't know what kind of idiot would ever want to be President, but I know the ones that are running.

Seems like everyone is disheartened about the lack of good candidates this time around. Could Obama be elected in again? Maybe he needs more time to sort out the country/economy?

I think he will be re-elected. Getting rid of Osama bin Laden is very much in his favor.

The republicans are the reason we are in the mess in the first place... and they had 8 years to create the mess... can we give President Obama the same amount of time to undo the problems... unless we want a bigger hole i suggest we stick with the plan and keep them out... for causing more trouble

Let us see We have a guy who will put a colony on the moon if elected; another says pregnancy out of a rape should be considered as a gift in a broken way. And a doctor, who opposed Civil Rights and Voting Rights. And finally the Mr. Job creator, who wants does not care about the poor, has his money parked and stowed away in foreign banks in Cayman Island, not creating any jobs

As a non-American, I can comment with only what I see on the news networks (which is a lot!). I frequent the news channels daily and it actually takes up quite a bit of my viewing time.
I believe President Obama has all the abilities to lead his Country. What I see is that he is being stalled in his attempts to improve the economy and health care by Congress. It is so blatant that they are doing everything possible to make their President fail and I find that disturbing.
I have watched all of the Republican debates and can see why President Obama is having difficulty with the Congress, if they are any representation of their members that are sitting in Congress currently.
I usually do not discuss Politics, but you asked...

i agree with Mich64 it is disturbing... i saw something on a republican page that was disturbing even more..."Show your support.
There are less than 10 months until Election Day when the people will decide who will be the next President of the United States. The person elected will be the president of all Americans, not just the Democrats or the Republicans. It’s that time that we all need to come together, Democrats and Republicans alike.
In a Bi-Partisan effort for America: If you will support the Republican nominee, please drive with your headlights ON during the day. If you support Barack Obama, please drive with your headlights OFF at night.
Together, we can make it happen."
now this is just wrong

That is so absurd, I actually do not understand it!?
Perhaps you can answer a question that I have regarding the process of electing a USA party leader (in this case, the Republican Candidate). I understand the Primary process, the collection of delegates and then the Convention for a final vote for a candidate for the Presidential race... however, I have heard that at the Convention, it is possible that other names could be added to the ballots, such as Jeb Bush, Sarah Palin etc., without them having run in any of the Primaries. Is this a possibility? That would seem unfair to whoever makes it to the Convention, I am assuming that it will be Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. But that would be unfair to the current process would it not?
As a non-American, any of these candidates (including Mr. Bush or Mrs. Palin) would make me nervous for the next 4 years if they were able to win the Election.
I do have my suspicions that Jeb Bush will be on the ticket as a Vice-Presidential candidate. I think that family just has that kind of power in the Republican Party and I think George Bush Sr. wants that legacy.
I am very interested in World Politics not just North American. I followed the British, German and Russian elections as well. I find the differences in electing Leaders interesting and try to learn as much as possible when elections are in process.
Cheers! Mich
PS I hope my opinions do not read as disrespectful, I do not intend them to be.
