Do you make anything say the day before or do you cook it all that day?

I will bake my bread the day before and make the Cranberry sauce. The rest I like to do that day.

Things like pies are made ahead of time.
Everything else day of.

here in NJ, it's generally getting cold by late November. when i was cooking for a crowd, i would do LOT of prep work the day before and stash either in my attached garage or out on my deck in a cooler. potatoes... sweet or white, peeled and in containers of water to prevent browning. just prepping potatoes ahead of time saved a lot of work on t-day.

Having a second refrigerator in the garage is a big help. A lot of people around here have stand alone freezers but I have found that having an extra frig is far handier. I get extra freezer space and extra frig space, great for over flow stuff, keep drinks cold, etc.

We have a garage fridge, which we love, and a big, industrial Coca Cola drink fridge that my son's boss gave us. Lots of fridge space is so useful.

I have to say my lady is amazing over the holiday. Not only did she cook turkey,we have ham,there was oxtail,potatoes,homemade cranberry sauce,salmon.  |
