Should the US simply open it's borders up for Mexicans? It seems that with climate change, a new wave of Mexicans will be heading towards the US. In their millions in fact. Link: www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-10770674

It is a problem, I know, TBN. Not trying to make light of the situation. I think that any time that a poor country sits directly next door to a very wealthy one, there are going to be problems. I wonder what the future holds?

I wonder what the future holds? Any time a wealthy country with big-scary toys sits next to anyplace, it makes sure its toys are bought and enforces that you eat cake while you dont have to... We want countries to open their markets, capitals, and agriculture. Why should labor be treated differently ? Look at EU's flow of labour and goods within their entity. Places where the local labor force was unwilling to work in certain sectors, there was a flood from newly joined countries - UK,Germany and Italy saw flood of labor filling the gap, to the chagrin of the unemployable youth who in a past era could get by without even finishing school, let alone college. Honest fact is we as a society are F** A*s Lazy - We want cheap goods (cant pay fair labor prices) cheap produce (cant grow anything without subsidies) Live on East Street, getting drunk on cheap beer cursing the hard-working-whoever.... Mexicans are to US, what Poles are to Uk,Germans and Bangladeshi are to India. US is going to go through the same realization UK did 1/2 a century ago.. They are not the center of the world anymore. Welcome to Globalization. When you out source your high tech production, you cannot expect to teach/create high tech capable newer workforce as there is nothing to produce locally.

^ Good points there. Regarding the European Union. Before each country is/was allowed to join they had to set or be at a certain level, financially speaking. Otherwise they were exempt from joining. The UK still wants to hold on to it's pound, they never did accept the Euro as a currency they wanted to adopt.

EU also does not imply the Schengen border controls either.

Mexico is a magnet for jobs and opportunities for people in Central America - a.k.a Honduran,El Salvador and Guatemala. In most of the English speaking caribbean islands you will find documented and undocumented Jamaicans.
I have seen chinese restaurants being run in the remotest of the places. Immigration is part of the trade routes since time immemorial.

But we are talking about illegal immigration. People who have not gone through the right channels in order to stay permanently in a country.
Realistically, how many more can the US take in? Especially with the economy being the way it is? Borders barriers are up for Mexicans for a reason, we've had an influx of them for many years now, and it's not helping the US any. The added burden is what to do with the kids of these illegal immigrants. They can't legally go to school or get medical care and the basic needs met. But still, they are no worse off then they would be over in Mexico I guess.

agua, no we are not much better, that's the truth. We've treated Natives really badly in the past. Remember all the kids that were forcibly taken from their families and put into homes, and all the pain that followed? Terrible.
