God doesn't take orders from His creation. God will answer prayers but is not our personal genie. It is conditional. Do you remember the old name it and claim it doctrine? How many people really got everything they claimed? We serve God. He doesn't serve us. When Jesus was on this earth, he walked as an example to show us how He wants us to walk, serving one another, but now that He has returned to Heaven, Jesus is a King on a throne. Nobody tells Him what to do and He is the one that will judge us all when this life is over.

God definitely doesn't take orders from us. Thats not what I meant. He knows whats best for us so you might not get the answer to a prayer YOU were hoping for. Just an fyi, been going here on and off for a few months now. Great message this past Sunday exactly what you were talking about. I realize not everyone can watch for the whole hour but here it was. www.youtube.com/live/kxVrtsqTv0M?feature=share

Good sermon Rusty , it bears witness with my soul. Writing a wish list of any kind, let alone 300 requests, reminds me of being a kid writing a letter to Santa with a hopeful "in Jesus' name, Amen" tacked on at the end. I don't take prayer lightly because I count the cost Jesus paid to give me, a sinner, access to the throne room of God. If I'm going to come boldly and ask things of God in Jesus' name, I don't want to make banal requests like God I need a new wide screen TV, help me win the lottery or an expensive new car. The Holy Spirit helps me to pray in line with God's will and, even when I don't know how to pray over a situation, I yield control to His Holy Spirit and He makes intercession on a deeper level than is understood by mankind to paraphrase Romans 8:26. The prayer Jesus gave His disciples, known as the Lord's prayer, is my guideline on the most important elements of prayer with the key phrase being "Thy will be done." If what I desire isn't God's will, I don't want to attempt to be so arrogant as to try and manipulate God into granting every request because I asked it in Jesus' name. If we "abide in Christ" we instinctively know what pleases the Father and what displeases Him. I have also come to understand there are times I pray for something good, but God has other plans and does not grant my request or perhaps does not answer in my preferred time frame. I must trust that He who knows the end from the beginning knows what is best and that is good enough for me. A good example of this is the Tenboom sisters. These were devout Christian women whose entire family were put in Nazi concentration camps when they were caught harboring their Jewish neighbors. The sisters were in the same barracks which was infested with fleas. One sister lead in prayer giving God thanks for various blessings including the fleas. Corrie, the other sister was shocked and said I know in all things we must be thankful, but sister fleas?! Now there were brutal guards who terrorized women in other barracks but for some unknown reason they never entered their barracks. Over time it was revealed to them that the reason they stayed away from their barracks was because of the fleas! God moves in mysterious ways.

Wow don't know hardly what to say but you understand what I'm trying to get across here. In the past I became disillusioned when I got no response from my prayers. Prayer doesn't work. But it was so far from the truth. Great message, great church.

For you...
When your questions go unanswered And your prayers may seem in vain They don't seem to make a difference They don't seem to make a change Just rest assured God knows your needs And He hears each time you pray Your prayers are reaching Heaven and the answers on the way
Pray On
