Yep we own guns.. Not going to say what kind. The why? Personal protection. In NY it was needed here not so much but hubby worked nights when we first lived here and I was alone. I grew up with guns. My father hunted to put food on the table. My brothers and I also hunted. I know how to safely handle one and how to safely store one.

We have guns yes, in this house about 5 I think? My other son has more at his place. Including a hand-gun.
Why? for hunting. Personally I can live without them. But I can see how they are good protection.
And we also have real swords, that because one of my boys likes fencing as a sport.
They are locked up and my sons are well trained. I don't use them myself. Although I know how.
Anyone would be real stupid to try and break into my house.

I don't own one. But if I lived in the rural mountains I would. I refuse to get eaten by bears and other large wild animals. Keep wondering how someone who has me blocked can post on my threads and not 'realize' it.

No guns, not because I'm against them,I just have no interest in hitting the gun range. My son,an Iraq war vet when he was renting a house I owned told me not to worry if someone breaks in, they're not leaving

I have 2 old school bolt action rifles for hunting, 30-06 and a .22 both stainless with synthetic stock
A couple of older .38 revolvers also, one's a six gun the other a smaller 5 shot.
I can use non-specialty rifles because I'm almost exactly average height and reach for a male.
My DW also has a .38 five shot for her handgun and an AR-15 rifle in a .223 caliber.
She's too small 'reach wise', for a regular rifle.
She's afraid of the 30-06 because of the large amount of recoil. Won't even try it, lol.
I used to collect years back, but have sold them all.
Edit; Oops, I have a single shot 20 gauge shotgun for rabbits, squirrel hunting. That actually gets used more than everything else combined.
Can't remember the last time I fired the .38 revolvers, should really do that to make sure they work. I've only kept them clean and oiled for years.

If so, how many and why? If not, why not? Yes, several (by the whole household... not just me, personally) For protection against those that would do us harm. Interesting anecdote I like to tell... The best part of that story... it was totally "off the cuff". It's not like we rehearsed it or anything, and my Brother and I only knew Robert because of being at accident scenes that he was at while we both volunteered on the Rescue Squad.

Of all the guns we have, my two favorites are: 1> The Smith & Wesson "Governor" that I gave my Mother, as a "Housewarming gift" when she moved into a new house about 7 years ago (she got married, then the bastard talked her into moving so he could get his name on the deed to the new house [the old one was in my Mother's name and her deceased Husband's name with "Joint Right of Survivorship" and would have been protected as "premarital property" in this state], so he could take half of the value when he divorced her). It's a cool Pistol that shoots .45 Colt bullets,.45 ACP bullets, OR .410 Shotgun rounds. 2> My Taurus G3c 9mm that I wear as my Concealed Carry firearm.

No, but we talk about it. Just can't justify the expense at the moment. Joe had several hunting rifles, but he left those with his Dad when we left Connecticut.

I am a country boy; I grew up hunting, shooting and fishing.
But I have not owned a gun for the last twenty years.

I don't own one. But if I lived in the rural mountains I would. I refuse to get eaten by bears and other large wild animals. That's the only reason I might have one. But I am only afraid of bears. I encountered a mountain lion once on a trail. He ran from me. I've encountered mountain lions in the 23 years I've lived on this ranch. A couple times they ran right away, other times it was a bit of a standoff. Never had to shoot one. I see bear several times a year while checking fence lines. Once, one had to be about 600 lbs. It was huge, but never seen me, and I was walking upwind at the time. He passed across a small open area about 50 yards in front of me. I just stopped and waited.
