Too much mayo on a sandwich is a biggie for me. I like a little mayo. I just always ask for it on the side. But never understood why they drown some sandwiches with it.

I can understand that ,@fuzzems, I really don't like drenching my food in too many sauces. I like to taste the natural flavor of vegetables for instance. My pet hate is that awful bun/sandwich called Manwich. And sloppy Joes. I don't want my food to be messy and dripping all over the place.

I don't buy Manwich though because they put the evil corn syrup in that. I don't buy any corn syrup products. So, I usually just make my own version. Sometimes it hits the spot!

i'm a bit picky when it comes to cooking with beef... cubes! for veggie/beef soup or stew or stroganoff... i cut beef in bite-sized pieces and trim off every bit of fat.
i prefer bone-in and skin-on for chicken. i only eat the skin if really really brown and crispy. if not, i just remove it... figure it still adds flavor to however it's cooked. i don't use a meat thermometer... i cook chicken to WELL-done.

Whenever I ordered a sandwich from a deli I always stress no pickle or coleslaw, two sides they throw in as a freebie. 9 times out of 10 they put it in the bag or covered dish anyway and I hate wet bread/toast soaked in pickle juice or the coleslaw dressing. Yuck, ruins the sandwich for me.

I hate soggy lettuce. When you get a salad the lettuce isn't dry enough. Yuck. Or they overdress it. One time we I got a salad and it was drowned in dressing. I usually ask for those kinds of things on the side but forget that time

DD and I were shopping and decided to stop to eat. Turned out it was a more upscale place. Like a wine bar and all that. She ordered a burger but they literally drowned it with some kind of bbq type sauce. It was pouring out. Like don't disintegrate the bun!
It's hard to find good hamburger buns. They ones they have now literally fall apart with any moisture. They do not hold up to a burger anymore.

Sounds better prepared like that. Just leave the bun out!

The best burgers are perhaps the ones we make at home?

have never had the desire to buy canned sloppy joe sauce. from scratch is simple and always good, though could be a touch different with each batch.
