A new era:’ US regulator allows first sales of lab-grown meat Two companies, Upside Foods and Good Meat, said they have received final US Department of Agriculture (USDA) approval to sell lab-grown meat, paving the way for the nation’s first-ever sales of the product. With the approvals, the US will become the second country after Singapore to allow the sale of so-called cultivated meat, which is derived from a sample of livestock cells that are fed and grown in steel vats. The companies are the first to complete the multi-step US approval process for cultivated meat. have a feeling this imitation "meat" costs the same (if not more) as real meat. if it was super cheap, i could see fast food places trying to pass fake off as the real deal. the next big paranoid conspiracy.

How will we know? Will they have to label it as "Lab grown meat'?
If it is or becomes cheaper than real meat, I can see all kind of restaurants serving it. Will they also have to have it labelled I wonder? And for how long?
