Please do POLL.
What do you think, should those big chains like Walmart etc. that use cheap child labor in poorer countries be boycotted?
And if so, what alternatives are there out there?

I am not sure it's just chain stores. I mean where are designer goods and other goods manufactured? Nike and Adidas have been accused of using child labor. Luxury brands have been accused and on and on. I don't really know what stores I would necessarily boycott then? The same brands at Walmart are carried at other stores as well.

That's just the thing, everyone and their uncle are sourcing out business, whether big or small, overseas to countries that can manufacture for a fraction of the price it would cost them in the West. If anyone has ever watched shows like 'Dragon's Den', whenever the question is asked 'Where will it be made', the answer is usually 'China'. It's all about making the most profit. Apart from local family owned type businesses, where on earth can you shop whereon you can be sure that child labor has not been used?

And here's the thing, places like India have laws that prohibit child labor, but it still goes on. So maybe the place to start is in those places and see what the heck is really going on over there.

Well, that's the thing, not really sure locally owned businesses aren't getting outsourced stuff either. Many local businesses have the same things you might buy at Walmart, etc. It's really difficult for us to know much about the products any more.
