Red Lobster lost shocking amount of money after endless shrimp ‘success’ Red Lobster was hoping to drive customers to their restaurants with an endless shrimp deal and it worked a little too well. In June, the company offered its Ultimate Endless Shrimp — typically a limited offer — on their regular menu for $20. The attempt to get more people into the store worked, but it came at a cost. Red Lobster posted an operating loss of more than $11 million in Q3, according to Restaurant Business. A loss that owner Thai Union Group said the Ultimate Endless Shrimp was a “key factor” in. “We knew the price was cheap, but the idea was to bring more traffic in the restaurants,” Thai Union CFO Ludovic Regis Henri Garnier said, according to a transcript. Garnier said that more people were choosing the endless shrimp than the company thought would. According to Men’s Journal, the shrimp fiasco is set to leave the company with a $20 million loss for the year. www.wtaj.com/news/food-news/red-lobster-lost-shocking-amount-of-money-after-endless-shrimp-success/?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_medium=referral&fbclid=IwAR2J99oUfq9joE3P8BT-GQe8ZwibKq6SBz_C0jk1mBzPrvdXREfD5StuWvo

The attempt to get more people into the store worked, but it came at a cost. That's a classic loss leader if there ever was one - offer something at far lower a price than it should be worth in order to draw more customers in. It works but if you're not careful, you can burned on it.

have only eaten at a RL a few times. meal was ok.
$20 seems very cheap for all-you-can-eat. a seafood dinner at about any restaurant at the shore would easily be $20 any day.

i think they've been doing some kind of "endless" offer for quite some time. i wonder why it's just now biting them on the butt? i don't think i've ever done nay serious damage to an "all-you-can-eat" thing, but know i'd get my money's worth in shrimp.

Put a sharp knife between the eyes and plunge the knife in firmly, and then bring the blade of the knife down so it's parallel to your cutting board. Takes a second.

Off the Grid NewsPeople forget that lobsters - like catfish and shrimp - were never meant for human consumption 'cause they're bottom-feeding animals that feed on, as it said above," dead and decaying matter."

That's something to think about,@webster.
I cannot eat Sushi either. The thought of eating raw meat or any kind, well it puts me off.

Well, that's the Old Testament lol. Gentiles are not under Judaic laws in that regard. A lot o things are probably NOT meant for human consumption. No other animals eat cheesecake or drink bloody marys or eat ham and cheese croissants. But yes they are bottom feeders so something to consider. And, I am aware of that but I still enjoy eating shrimp, lobster, scallops etc from time to time.

Catfish are bottom feeders, too.
As well as flounder, cod, halibut, snapper, bass.
