The homeowner should have every right to post footage from their home. Nobody is declaring anyone "guilty". A court of law will determine that. But, nothing wrong with posting evidence of a crime. Everyone is filmed all day long. Why should i be filmed walking in to a store then? Then remove all cameras filming everywhere

Not only should they be legal and proof in a court of law. They should be proof of my innocence when I shoot someone breaking in.

I read you have the right to shoot a home invader if your life is in danger, but not to protect personal property. Not sure if this law applies only to some states or if it also applies in other countries outside of the US as well. Also, criminals who become injured while in your home may be able to sue you. They may have an actual case if they can prove you set a trap for home invaders.

I am on a local Facebook page, whereon it's a "crime watch" group thing. People are posting photos off their security camera and cell phones of others who are trying to break into camps and such. Which is perfectly fine as far as I am concerned. But also they are posting pics of people just walking around outside their house and of their cars. Just 'in case' they might be up to something bad.
I agree with posting pics of thieves and intruders and such, but there has to be proof that that is what these people are doing. If someone just knocks on your door and then the next thing you know, they are plastered all over the internet, then that seems wrong to me. Seems that (around here anyway). It shouldn't be a case of 'guilty until proven innocent', I think that does border on invading someone's privacy.
So there is a gray area there. There have been a lot of things stolen out of people's sheds and garages and camps, so I can understand why people are being so vigilant. But on the other side of the coin, if someone gets targeted when they have and are not doing anything wrong, but just been caught on camera accidently, then that is not right.
