Take away the incentive to keep having children irresponsibly. but families are indoctrinated into a welfare system and the only way to continue to survive is by having more and more children Oh okay, I get it now. Yeah I guess that is the sad reality for some many..

Will there come a time when it will be mostly the poor who will have children?

Will there come a time when it will be mostly the poor who will have children? I think by in large that's the way it is now. While I know it seems like poverty breeds children, children take a great deal of wealth. Which is why we see so many on Government assistance. I just got my W-2 in the mail today, and at dang near 60yo I made more than I ever have. Yet I know if there was a kid in the picture, I would be broke.

Then who would run the world? The Kangaroos? Easy...Those moronic marsupials don't have a chance... We'll take care of it...

I mean, if we all stop having children, then the human race will die out altogether, which probably isn't most of us want.
With that being said, I do wish there wasn't such a weight of expectation on everyone to have children, because some people (myself included) probably shouldn't have them (due to not being responsible enough).

If only there was more time to ponder on if you want kids or not.
For women (anyway) there is a time limit,(unless she is thinking of feezing her eggs). My niece is kinda in that postion now, she is just over 30 years old, not married or attached and at the moment is not interested in having kids. She is thinking of freezing her eggs, so she can still have the option of haviing kids later in life if she chooses to. Still, it's risky, expensive and there are no guarantees.

There would be nothing sadder than for humanity to just give up and stop having children. Children refresh the earth. And just because there are hard times in one age doesn't mean it will be that way forever. Who even envisioned information being on 'the cloud" and literally at your fingertips? I mean it's really incredible. We have only had commercial air travel for 100 yrs. Think about how many human beings existed before that never left the ground?

There's no doubt about it, we've come a long way.
I sometimes wonder what this world will be like in 40 or 50 years time? When most of us are no longer here.
Will things be better or worse?
The one thing that is evident though, is that this earth has too many people for the resorces available at this point in time.

I am gonna say "No" to the Degrowth and neo-Malthusian crap. If anything in light of these challenges, we need humans MORE.

Regarding over population. Well, it's not that the Earth is not big enough, it's more that the resources we have on this planet are already stretched. Not all of our Earth is habitable. And with climate change and all that it is bringing and will continue to bring it will get more and more inhospitable and harder to live on.
So the less people we have the better it will be in the long term.

I don't think earth is overpopulated. Whenever i fly, I just find it amazing how much space there really is and that humans are just a dot on the landscape. Obviously we have well populated cities but in spots but the rest of the country and world is more sparsely populated.
I think we have adequate resources. I don't think the issues are a lack of resources. I think much of it is the inefficiency of corrupt governments and people with power who are able to control and block. I mean why do i have continue to pay taxes on a land i already OWN? Makes no sense and we have just accepted that.
Now we have people from the WEF who even say water is not a human right.

Some places are more crowded than others. I travelled around India some years back and found the great mass amount of people there to be overwhelming (at least the first few weeks I was there). Then of course there is China and many many cities all over the world. Can be stifling to live there and not enough resources to share around.
So what is the answer? Should people be allowed to live wherever they want, in whichever country? To spread them all out a bit and make the resources more sharable? I doubt those living in the more well off countries will agree to that.
The population of the world is going one way - UP. But the land we have on Earth is getting more inhospitable to live on. Some areas of the world are already a no go. Canada is known to be the 2nd biggest country in the world, but most of our land is frozen tundra and unlivable. So we live where we can survive and that is mostly on the Southern border of our country.

The one thing that is evident though, is that this earth has too many people for the resorces available at this point in time. Being better or worse in 50 years is so subject to opinion, perspective, and who you ask. If you ask a 30-year-old if life will be better 50 years in the future the answer may be filled with much doubt. However, if you ask that same 30 year old if life was better 50 years ago, most will suggest it was.
