Gen Z grad with 2 degrees breaks down in tears sharing the responses she received from minimum wage employers after handing out her résumé in New York
This is the most humbled I’ve ever felt in my life,” the teary-eyed Gen Z graduate reported back to her TikTok fans after a disappointing day of job-seeking.

Lockdown-era graduates already faced a tough road after they were forced to study alone on Zoom during the pandemic rather than share the valuable coming-of-age university experience enjoyed by their parents. Now they’re being told that the degree they went into debt for is no longer worth much—as Santos found out. Click on Link for full article:

I’d bet it’s almost impossible to get a job in New York. They can’t even find jobs for Joe’s migrants.

Many of the job postings online are inactive. People spend a lot of time applying for jobs that don’t even exist. And have heard a lot of stories how they may be called, have multiple rounds of interviews then ghosted. It’s really despicable

hank said: "I’d bet it’s almost impossible to get a job in New York. They can’t even find jobs for Joe’s migrants." IDK Hank, there has been such a huge exodus from New York City that people are on long waiting lists to hire a moving company. Someone is going to have to fill those vacated jobs. An interesting side note, the Mayor wants to lower the requirements for civil service jobs so proficiency in English and skills/experience are no longer a factor when hiring anyone. This means people with college degrees like the person in the above article will be on an even playing field with illegal immigrants. Do you think they will start to question their socialist curriculum now that they are faced with having to live with the new world order's vision for America?

Many graduates lack familiarity with the basics of job searching, or how to sell themselves to employers when they have minimal work experience.
It depends on so many factors.

What you say has merit apple . Just one more way colleges are failing to teach usable lifeskills to students before sending them out into the world. Money well spent

I have seen so many people respond to employment ads who have absolutely no experience and a totally useless degree.
Honestly, I would rather hire someone with McDonalds or Starbucks experience rather than an unrelated degree in Art history or Ethnic studies....et al.

Years ago @naz , before this open border policy began, people wanting to immigrate to the USA had to come here legally. They were required to have gainful employment waiting for them upon arrival and a place to live, usually with family or a sponsor who could vouch for/support them. They also had to be immunized and checked for communicable diseases. And no criminal record. Today, at a time in history where a 9/11 terrorist attack took out thousands of people on our own soil, it would seem to necessitate more caution not less when bending the existing immigration and asylum laws. Citizens have had to live with increased security measures and loss of privacy since 9/11, doesn't jive IMHO.

trump could hire them to work in his hotels. He likes to do that. What’s this have to do with Trump? You really don't know? The trump organization has for many years employed a “roving crew of Latin American employees” to perform masonry and maintenance work at his winery and various golf clubs around the country. For almost two decades, the group has been comprised of workers who came into the US Illegaly. Google it.

Many graduates lack familiarity with the basics of job searching, or how to sell themselves to employers when they have minimal work experience. It depends on so many factors. When is the last time you searched for a job? There's no lack of familiarity to log on to a company website or indeed. I used to simply mail a one page cover letter of interest and my resume. I had secured my first professional job before graduating from college. All of us at the time had jobs before even graduating. Now, you don't do that. YOu get on their website. They tell you to upload all kinds of crap. Which you do and has ALL your info on it already. But, oh wait you have now fill out the online company's version as well. 6+ pages or more of endless BS. Then you hit "submit" and maybe you get a thanks for your submission type emal or you get nothing. And even it it's submitted you have no clue if a human is ever going to look at it. You also have no clue if they are truly even looking to hire anyone because the job listing might be old or they may just renew "general application' type collections. Job candidates are treated very poorly now in many industries. Not sure how a working person is supposed to be able to get off their current job for endless rounds of interviews. My interviews were 15 min and a handshake. And then you were hired and started working the week or sometimes the next day. I get that it takes longer now, more reference checking , company physical, drug tests and on it goes. The employers are tossing up an intentional wall. It has become increasingly miserable to try to leave your current job to land another one. And, they may even offer it to you then ghost you. I have seen some of these things happen with my kid's friends. My younger son was contacted by phone for months over and over after he graduated with his engineering degree but they never escalated the interview to in person or even zoom. But, they kept contacting him and leaving him hanging. When he got another job offer, of course the one stringing him also finally sent and offer kind of out of the blue. And they literally only sent him an email offer and salary. There was no info on benefits, health ins, overtime, etc. I said, I don't even know what the salary number means. There's a lot more that goes into an offer than that. The other company sent him a package that was spelled out. And they offered more so that worked out. But WHO is running these HR's now? Seems we have a lot more so called educated people in positions but why are things such a mess?

One of the main reasons entry-level jobs are hard to come by is the oversaturation of the job market. With so many graduates entering the workforce every year, the demand for entry-level positions often exceeds the available job openings.
You don’t have to start off with your dream job, but finding a job that’s at least within your desired field is important. Or even consider intern options.
Fresh graduates with degrees and no work experience are a gamble for any employer.
Graduates need to understand the career they are wishing to enter may be saturated and find creative ways to enter such as networking, short interns or back door considerations.
You would be amazed at the initial response employers get from the first job posting. Many times I see reumes and graduation credentials sent with no cover letter, or a list of their needs as far as salary, holidays, benefits beforehand. Yes the process is different but common sense still applies.
