Traveling to some countries is dangerous. Especially in today political climate.
I don't know the whole back story of this couple or why they were attacked. Or maybe there was no reason, other than they were not locals and looked like they might have money. Greed, jealousy, all play a part.
I used to think that backpacking was just fine and a fun way to see different places. I'm not so sure anymore. Maybe a packaged holiday with a tourist guide is the way to go, if you are traveling to far off places?
