So this lady had a rental property that was vacant for only two weeks. Within that time squatters moved in and refused to leave. They knew their 'rights' and wouldn't budge . While there they destroyed the house, walls gone, and all sorts of damage was done. And this is not a one off, this kind of take-over by squatters is happening all over America.

I have heard of cases where fraudsters rent out houses they do not own.
The renters have a contract and believe they are doing nothing wrong. It is then up to the slow moving courts to investigate.

That can happen or the squatters just tell the courts that is what happened. In some cases they print out bogus 'rental contracts' to show they rented the place out. Except it's all a scam. But it gives them enough time and creates enough confusion that once it gets to the courts it can takes weeks, months and in some cases years before they are made to leave. Something really needs to be done. Change in laws need to be put in place to protect the property owner. I mean if around a quarter of all properties that are vacant have already been taken over by squatters in America then this is obviously a huge problem and just getting bigger day by day. |

It really puts a person off buying property that they will not living in. Whether they buy it as a rental investment or just to use as a second home. When the law takes a property owners rights away, of course people are going to shy away from getting into a bad situation.
Which doesn't help legitimate renters. It just creates more people who can't find a decent (or any) place to live.

I think the squatting issues are part of a larger, more nefarious agenda. Leftist politicians HATE private property rights. The marxist agenda is that everything is state owned and state controlled. The govt powers are promoting squatter "rights" and have been for years. They either create laws or they simply don't arrest or prosecute them. And one can say oh no nothing nefarious but at what point will we open our eyes to evil?? They can destroy the culture and middle class and property ownership by simply allowing someone to take over your home and property

Whoever has made these rules/laws to protect these scumbag squatters needs to redo them. As soon as someone enters your property, they need to be evicted, like within a hour. The police ought to have the right to do this. If they have been tricked into renting a place then they can be put into a motel for a few days perhaps? It's not the property owners fault that a scam has taken place. Anyway, usually it is t he squatters themselves who are trying to scam the system. If this started to happen, then millions of squatters would quit what they are doing. Some of them go from place to place doing this.  What next? You go out shopping for the day and come back to find squatters have moved into you home? This is beyond a joke. |

These squatter laws should have been done away with long ago. Don't recall say politician talking about it. I've never read these laws but it makes no sense to me. In order to squat you have to break two laws. Trespassing and Break and Enter
