How Canada became a car theft capital of the worldMr LaFreniere’s story is hardly unique. In 2022, more than 105,000 cars were stolen in Canada - about one car every five minutes. Among the victims was Canada’s very own federal justice minister, whose government-issued Toyota Highlander XLE was taken twice by thieves. Meanwhile, some Canadians have taken matters into their own hands, doing everything from installing trackers on their cars to hiring private neighbourhood security. I like the idea of the retractable bollards to deter theft.
I bet they are expensive to install though.

I had a heavy duty diesel pick-up truck stolen back in 2016 while in Branson, Missouri. It's a strange feeling to come out of a place when you're 80 miles from home, and see an empty spot where your truck was sitting. I had to wait 2 1/2 hours for my DW to drive there to pick me up.  |

I like the idea of the retractable bollards to deter theft. I bet they are expensive to install though. Yes a good idea. But I think this is a good idea also. Installing trackers on their cars. Be easy for police to track down whoever stole your car. |

It's not a real crime anymore the cops arrest them and the system cuts 'em loose. Almost all crimes are done by repeat offenders.
One way to protect yourself is to install a simple 'kill switch' that dis-ables the vehicle (starter) another is to just pop out the fuel pump fuse when ya park- but that's more of a hassle. Some crooks carry a small fuse by-pass device. They also have those steering wheel 'clubs' but they are not that fool proof the thief can cut thru the steering wheel and bend it and slip off the 'club' device.
Until they make laws tuffer it'll only get worse. That socialism & liberalism.
When a crime happens the local news frequently releases the perps criminal record, it's common to see a guy 25 years old with a long list of felonies that date back to the kids youth-- and there he is back on the street.

I will take the primary start relay out when I'm in an area I'm not sure of. They're vehicle specific and there is no way around it being gone. Simply plug it back into it's little box when I get back |
