Just revisted this thread, interesting what favorites we have...! Here some more of mine, I am revisiting my 400 GB to condense them for a mobile comp for my other forum radio programme, and just adressing some that I find a vid for (and in no particular but just random order, just to mention it, just songs I like or that mean something to me): actually, was looking for the Cal Tjader version of "hip walk", but does not exist on utube, so as he was a Frankfurt friend of mine and is a genious and I had him forgotten, and as Funk Rulez always anyway, give a big hand to Peter Herbolzheimer (though it does not qualify as favorite for me, just memories...): This one, YES!!! GROOVE rulez, not Funk!(just found out - again!). Not just the song, but the style: Give me a GT, a ziggy and a half empty dance floor, and I will be on, with all this kind of music, I guess, finally I got somehow stuck in the 80s/90s... Anyway, Dutch band "De Phazz" with one of their pieces that are more to my liking (for a beach dance?): Also I am not ashamed to confess that some of my favorites come from the "Lift/Supermarket" genre: Groove, always helpful...: ... nor that I am a Club guy: ...coming home after one or the other GT, then, with the same expression on my face as he sports on his album, I am usually remembering that some ballads also are part of my true favorites (what a pity there does not exist a live vid of the "Bounced Checks" version of this classic, but at least we have the audio..."...hae you noticed that the carpet needs a haircut?... and you cant find a waitress, not even with a gaeiger counter... the man is blind on one eye, and he cannot see out of the other..., etc..., father, give us this day our daily splash, and forgive us our hangovers, as we forgive all that continue to hang over against us... give us all a ride home!;D"; after that part it becomes true poetry...): ...and then, babes of the day wants go home, and you have to pull all registers (of cause, TW just had her shocked, and you really got to show your true romantic side)...(again, not on utube, just as link, the Betty Carter version as the only one working in those circumstances, the vid is just a substitute to fill space and give you the idea: www.metacafe.com/watch/2106845/ray_charles_betty_carter_baby_its_cold_outside):...once this solved, maybe then we can come out all "yuppieee!!!"?(again, no true vid on the tube - just the audio covered by a stranger on a vid -, but this kid/girl/boy deserves being featured with what it did to this nice french song): last (for today), with poor deaf genius Sting, you have to check and double check your soul, not talking about the hangover next day: Let me know if you find my spills annoying, I could go on for pages and pages (no threat meant)... or, enjoy! His voice, even at his age (he is from ´34), will roll more than one toenail upwards.... Still, I am more for his other sides and their (in this case even better than the original from my POV) covers (I am not sure I posted this before - the search feature here does not work really well -, if so, erm.... sorry, but OK, I hope?): From the same album as "I am your man": and the breathtaking and hypnotic - very experimental,"OMEGA": Death Metal Freaks (Largatija Nick) meet Flamenco God (Enrique Morente)- cover, it transports the gist of the song sooooo well, making it even better in its meaning, from the album "Poemaparalosmuertos"(PoemForTheDead)....!(The lyrics, btw, are the same, just in Spanish): That´s Granada, Spain for you...
