It was pretty bad, and I'm not fussy about my food. But, my gosh, I could hardly bite into what was presented to us. It was tough and stale and I noticed that many people were leaving theirs half-eaten.. ![:-X](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/sign/sign0091.gif) Some entertainment on the flight back.(apart from me just about getting on before it left that is) ![:-/](http://storage.proboards.com/1346968/images/eqslO0UEipUTrHwfTSdW.gif) A rather large chubby guy on the center seats (yes he took all four seats) didn't get what he wanted to eat. The choice was beef or pasta. He wanted beef, but so did everyone else. By the time it got to Mr. Chubbycheeks, the beef dish was no more. He became very angry and I do mean angry. He refused to eat the pasta placed in front of him, he whined and he shouted and then he said he would be suing Air Canada. He told the stewardess in charge that the male steward had overlooked him on purpose and that he was being discriminated against. It was all really ridiculous. After talking to him for a long time and trying to explain to him that there are only so many meals on the plane and that not everyone gets exactly what they want, they gave him a special dish of some kind and it seemed to settle him down a bit. Then he lay down on all four seats and fell asleep, just like a baby!

Appetiser on the plane![:-X](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/sign/sign0091.gif) ![](http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_iplvOy-fM90/TXfJqy-D1XI/AAAAAAAAC7c/9A6sxHTn69Q/s640/100_2655.JPG) Frankly, I agree plane food in the back is horrible. I could have told you that before you returned, should have called AC and asked for special meal HNML or some such code. You'd have received Indian cuisine. All western carriers including BA & VS have terrible inflight catering. Whereas all asian carriers such as JAL, Thai, Malaysian Air, Korean Air, Singapore Air have decent meal even in coach. Currently my favorite is Kingfisher which serves excellent meals even in a 1:55 flight. Air Canada's special meals I think you should have ordered Hindu Meal to get Indian fare.

You know I never thought of pre-ordering a meal on a plane. But it's a good idea. Since I usually travel by Air Canada or British Airways - I wonder what kind of options they have?
Misspatty, yeah, he was a real character as they say, but entertaining!

Check special meals in each airline's website. AC & BA have better option than US based carriers.

Do you upgrade to first class, nycank. I saw the first class section on the plane, sure looked a lot more comfortable then where I was! They could even lie down and stretch their legs out.

And, nycank, tell me this ~ if you were travelling with a girlfriend on the same flight, would you put her in the back or would you buy her a firstclass seat? I'm interested because I used to have a boyfriend who was /is a non-executive director of several companies and a chairmen of several others, whose fare was paid in first class. If I wanted to go along I had to be put in the back.Non issue dear. I have never put anyone in the back while I am in the front. Same PNR, I get upgraded he/she gets upgraded. That guy was a cheap B***d. I'm no hotshot/director - but have flying status so I & companion get upgraded - no question about it. I have paid through miles to upgrade whom ever is upgraded with me if I am complimentary upgraded.

I have taken colleagues of mine to Istanbul, Buenos Aires, Santiago-de-Chile. Same deal !!! My PNR, we both get upgraded - or neither. A woman in my PNR ![:o](https://storage.proboards.com/1346968/images/qR8ZNGpUWQWwoD0u9W_z.gif) ; and She rides on the back and I in front ![:o](https://storage.proboards.com/1346968/images/qR8ZNGpUWQWwoD0u9W_z.gif) You can bet that would never happen.

^ I agree ![;)](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/winking/winking0051.gif) Gracias You're a real gentleman, nycank. Danke ^ I am SO pleased to hear this. You have risen so high in my estimation ![;)](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/winking/winking0051.gif) Ic þancas do Its only miles ... or maybe some money. Can't take it with me can I ? I once on an international flight traded seats with an unknown lady - I sent her up in the front and took her last seat in the plane. She was so shocked (this was pre 9/11) that someone would do that (My reasons ? I was feeling uneasy and wanted to lie down and last row had only one woman ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) BUt nonetheless, she was treated well; and I was treated to a lesser discomfort.

This other day, I swapped my front of the bus, with a woman's window seat in the back. The F/A thought it was so generous of me ![;)](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/winking/winking0051.gif) I got free drinks and better attention than in front ![:-X](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/sign/sign0091.gif)

How was the air-plane food from Vietnam and Cambodia, nycank? I think he was upgraded. So better food. The Sai Gon - Icheon/Seoul segment of the flight was delicious; or maybe I am predisposed to Korean / Vietnamese fare. The US carriers try but do not come close. I expect on my India trip, AirFrance to do well by me; or maybe not ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) ![:-X](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/sign/sign0091.gif) This is a snack. Neither breakfast not dinner. Scrumptious. Never had seaweed before, what does it taste like? Salty. I am sure you had seaweed. maki rolls, sushi restaurants have it, or in korean restaurants. And some macrobiotic restaurants too.

I hate airplane food. When I went to California to visit my boyfriend, I was starving and it was my first time traveling on my own. I had bought myself a "salad". I put that in quotes because it didn't taste like a salad at all. The lettuce was disgusting. It tasted more like cabbage or cold slaw. It didn't even look like lettuce. I knew I should have bought a sandwich instead. Needless to say, I didn't finish it.

I agree,@nilla. I always dread what's going to be put in front of me, when I'm traveling. I've had some really awful stuff that I couldn't even put a name to presented to me when flying. Most airlines won't allow you to bring your own food and drink with you onto a plane. So you're pretty much as their mercy. ![confused0004](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/confused/confused0004.gif)
