Music - What are you listening to?

For those who do not know me, I am (ex) German, living in Spain, let me introduce myself with music (one of the artists was a class mate in school, look at them and you will know me even if it is from the early 90s....: lyrics, stupid and ridiculous but TRUE, below):



Dont recall whether I mentioned it already, but we are on cloud 7 atm as a nation, here in Spain we just made history and got one star on our soccer dress (adding ourselves to the G8 of star bearers), NOTE this the only nationl anthem without lyrics in the world (I heaard there is an obscure island under the sme conditions somewhere, but I don´t believe it until I hear it, for us here it is either "LOLOLOLOLOLO or LALALALALALALALA, everybody has to mke up his mind to which faction he belongs, myself I am Lolo rahter than Lala):

Got my grip on the new keyboard by now...;D I found it more surprising that he can actually play the harp quite well also

Here what I am listening to currently, an interesting band I heard last year in Palma,"La Goutte au Nez"(The drop from the nose):

La Goutte au Nez,"Scareland", a slightly different marching tune over a complex running bass theme (one of those you will remember, at least after the Tuba solo), a bit weird at first, but stunningly gripping after a moment, and even funky after a while:

Bruce Willis and the Harp, it's surprising. The above really is a marching tune. Have the band played again in your area?

Yep, on Wednesday JUL 16, on our Fiesta "Virgen de Carmen"(patron of the Fishermen), leading the procession on land before everything went to the sea, that is how I got reminded.

I havent found any vids from *our* procession this year, but you will get the gist if you look at the two vids below, just that we go with around 500 boats (and all much more decorated in the Med than in the Atlantic from the vid, see my boat from 2007 below, and this was not too well decorated, usually I plant a palm tree...), and the core fisher trawlers all in one rope, The Virgin leading the procession out of port and, after a nice round through the med of about half an hour, back again.

FOr us not fishermen its is great fun,. everybody comes stocked with beer-and-pretzels ("jamon"= ham, in Spain), the kids battle away on mock attacks with water filled ballons versus other craft, etc...

For me a highlight every year, as I have to move my boat through the sea for one and a half hour from where I live to the port of Andratx, and then, later at night w/ or w/o moon (and usually aquite packed) make it home, if the weather is too rough I stop of at a secret bay I know and sleep on the boat.









Marching bands play a great role, they accompany the virgin from the church to port, and later board on the lead vessel, this year for us that was the featured guys (a bit like in the vid below, though they performed the traditional tunes and the vid is a mix of stage and march):

That sounds so relaxing. I know you get some major storms in that area too. So that is probably the wisest thing to do.

Just love those videos, they capture what you describe so well. To think of 500 boats in one procession like that is really something. Are there a lot of live bands that play out side in your area?

Would that be a picture of your boat, Rattler?

See? This is a bit of the problem I am having with you, you have so much things to do, you never seem to have time to read the posts in detail, and us mortals that write come up feeling you are not taking us seriously...

FWIW, I like it and find it intriguing, like mosto of their stuff, even if doing covers like "Bang, Bang" etc.
