Well I decided on putting £2 on Belgium qualifying for the final at 1-4 meaning I will win 50p assuming I win, I think it is a certainly they will qualify but...... well you never know, beginning to have second thoughts now lol.
I'll be livid if I lose! gaah

Generally the Eastern European countries vote for each other, Greece and Cyprus vote for each other, the Scandinavian countries vote for each other and so it's virtually impossible for anyone other than a Scandinavian or Eastern European country to win.
The whole thing has become an embarrassment; it used to be fun but the voting is so racist and politically motivated it's long stopped being that.
And I miss Terry Wogan!

I'll probably watch it but I wouldn't be surprised if for only the second time we got 'nil points!'

Also stuck 10 p on Iceland to qualify at 4-1 bit more risky but it makes it more interesting and it sounded a bit different.

Well.... they said they were announced in random order but I bet they saved the one with the most votes till last to generate drama.

It is not too surprising really that people of a similar culture prefer certain types of music. I don't think it is that biased really, the best song usually wins, however if there are a pile of mediocre songs you are more likely to see the bias. Italy looks sure to win this year. There have been change to the voting format too I think.

I'll probably watch it but I wouldn't be surprised if for only the second time we got 'nil points!' The UK are in the second semi final of Thursday I think, I will probably watch that or at least have it on in the background. I assume the UK will make the final, however I think it is 10 songs from 18 so nothing is guaranteed. Indeed with the UK sticking two fingers up at Europe in the Brexit vote will the vote for the UK? I would not be surprise is they don't but then some in the EU may not be keen on it either so there might be votes from them. However having said that when I pick a song I like it is based solely on the song not the politics. IF Adolf Hitler himself was there singing a good tune he'd probably get my vote! sign0020

I never heard of Eurovision, but if it's anything like American Idol or The Voice, I would wager on shooting myself in the head if forced to watch it for any period of time exceeding ten minutes.(Jennifer Hudson is a great American singer and apparently she came in sixth or seventh on American Idol. I'm not sure why she was there in the first place.) I hate reality shows.(But I did catch Neil Degrasse Tyson on C-SPAN 2 this past Sunday. Now he's someone to watch - and you may catch a supernova as an added bonus.) *edit I love RuPaul's Drag Race, which I guess is sort-of a reality show. I posted a really cool performance from it, but it was taken down here. Silly. Oh, hello there!! Welcome back nice to see you again! 1370803959 Oh it is nothing like American Idol or The Voice really, it is like nothing on earth. 3 hours of wall to wall crap music but that is kind of part of the attraction. sign0020 It is not the sort of thing you can watch for any length of time really, what I tend to do is have it on in the background whilst I am doing or other stuff. But it is a bit different, only once a year, I don't normally watch the semi finals at all usually but I though I'd stick it as there nothing else on anyway and it is a kind of slow news day. I thought iceland's was OK, was one that kind of woke me up anyway. they chorus is OK. Not sure if she is bald or not and she is wearing platforms! sign0020 Don't think reality shows are anything to do with reality these days anyway. I''ve found a Neil Degrasse Tyson video so I'll take a look. I'll take a look at RuPaul's Drag Race too, that sounds a bit weird, I might like it!

I remember a dreadful winner by Finland or Norway (I forget which) with a bunch of wallies dressed up like Darth Vader playing appallingly bad heavy metal (and I LIKE heavy metal when it's GOOD!)

I think the Icelandic one is a good song, I'm surprised it didn't make it, especially when you consider how crap some of the songs that do make it are.

be interesting to see how wins the finals on May 13th.
I always find that even if some of the songs are not that good, the winner usually is outstanding in some way, regardless. Unless things have changed since I used to watch this contest in the UK. I always liked the fact that it never had a political stance. But looks like now it does...

Unless things have changed since I used to watch this contest in the UK. I always liked the fact that it never had a political stance. But looks like now it does... Well Italy is firm favourite, odds on at about 5/6 followed by Portugal at about 5/2, after that is is out to 12-1 and over. Can't say I noticed Portugal's one before really seems rather tame for Eurovision. However if you look at the view counts on the official Eurovision site it is Italy 7.6 million Sweden 4.6 million Belgium 4.0 million Russia 2.9 million - withdrawn Portugal only has about 1.7 million somewhat at odds with the betting, I've go by the view count. Also Italy has over 100 million on another version of the song. So probably one of the top 3 and likely to be Italy, but depends how the voting goes on the night it may be closer that expected which should make the voting more interesting.

not much of interest in SF2 really, Ireland are in it but are 3-1 to qualify ie not very good
Bulgaria is shortest favorite to qualify, the best of a bad bunch really lol.
