not much of interest in SF2 really, Ireland are in it but are 3-1 to qualify ie not very good Bulgaria is shortest favorite to qualify, the best of a bad bunch really lol. Is this a popular show? I never heard of it and have no interest. I heard on some newscast that some network is reviving American Idol. I don't get the fascination. Well the final had over 200 million viewers last year world wide, 42 European countries compete so I guess the audience per country is not that high, plus other countries screen it too. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_watched_television_broadcasts#GlobalIt is a bit naff in a way but quite relaxing to watch or at least have on. I don't think many watch the semi finals though, semi final as a fairly recent thing as there were too many countries competing. Abba won it once. as did Celine Dion This was one of the best recent winners, but often the songs are not much good. Ireland have won it 7 times, the most ever but hey have not won it since 1996. They won't be winning it this year though as they failed to qualify! It is fair to say a lot of people think it is rubbish, but then most of the stuff on TV is rubbish anyway! sign0020 But it is big show, a costly production the winners have to host the next show, hence it nearly bankrupt Ireland, probably why they send rubbish songs now. sign0020 Recent notable Irish contestants were twins Jedward, unfortunately despite their enthusiasm they can't sing very well. There are often pretty spectacular sets and light shows these days, not everyone's cup of tea granted! |

True, that. Do you get C-SPAN over there? Well not really I don't think not on standard terestial TV, which is all I have basiaclly, you might be able to get it one some of the cable TV systems ie Sky, but I don't have that, however I think you can get it online? It is not a show as such like American Idol, I mean it is only on once a year, on one day, well 3 days if you include the semi-finals, if you want to see all the songs you would have to watch the semi-finals though. But with 42 songs, even at 3 mins each that would be 126 mins of solid music, of course when you add a minute or two between songs that is another couple of hours at least. |

Stream for the final if anyone wants it.
The betting has changed considerably, former strong fav Italy is out to 4-1. Portugal fav now st 6/4 followed by bulgaria at 2-1.
My belgium is in to 14-1, UK has drifted but I like the song on the big screen so to speak, I though it might win but the bookies think otherwise.

put a few 5p EW bets on some 200-1 shots for a laugh!
there is no real obvious winner for me, maybe the original fav Italy will win.
I heard Moldoava good a good reception in the judges show.(yesterday)
best song Iceland is on in it, here she is again, Illuminati earrings and all.

Portugal won, quite rightly I suppose, it is perhaps the most Eurovision ie a bit different and not in English.
It is a nice song but not something you tend to hear these days.

The Portuguese song was very derivative - like something out of a 1940s Hollywood musical.
Hungary - hooray!- overcame their prejudices to field a Roma as their representative.
UK entry was OK but I could hardly hear her singing.
I liked the French and Romanian entries best - and at least the French girl SANG in French!

Well, at least the Australians gave us 12 points! That would be the jury vote, I don't think we get to see the individual country public votes? The UK gave austrailia 10, Irelands didn't give Australia any! Ireland gave Germany 3 the only jury points they got. They also got 3 public votes. |

It's actually quite a moving song, it was written and composed by his sister.
She sang it with him at the end of the show.
