I'd prefer just to treat everyone equally and manage to their individual abilities and temperaments. Ya because dealing with racism in the workplace is ...hard. It's actually simple. Zero tolerance. But I don't have to comply with your foolish leftist tropes to get there.

Robin DiAngelo, Phd:"a racist policy is any policy with a racially inequitable outcome. Look at your organization’s policies. If they are producing racially inequitable outcomes, get them back on the table and keep working."

Read the link sb. Are we prepared to start using ideological purity tests to grant people the right to join the workforce?

With her being Italian or having Italian heritage she must know that it was not that long ago that her clan were not considered white enough to be truly white. Yes, there were language and religious problems as well. The KKK was not just anti-Black and Jewish, they were also anti-Catholic. I believe that the biggest mass lynching in U.S. history took place in New Orleans with Italians as the victims.

I thought that most tribes would accept people with 1/32 with Native American blood but I imagine that they all have their different rules on that.

My Grandpa would have been Cherokee from where he was born and raised. In 1966 we moved into the house his Dad built.

Who agrees with Robin DiAngelo on here? Is segregation the way to solve all the race related problems we have today? (I don't think she meant it quite in that way mind you) Yes I agree, it was not what she said. She does not believe in segregation. Funny how they call her a "White author" now. lol I can kinda see where she is coming from really. I mean why should people have to put up with racism? Who wants people like that around them? I know she was talking tongue in cheek though. We all know that pushing these haters to one side would never work. Give them there own block of apartments and let them live amongst themselves. Unfortunately we have to deal with them one on one as it happens and as they come into our lives.

Skoal, here you just have to be one 8th Native in order to get the Status and all the benefits that go with it. Your dad should have qualified. But you are right in that you are too far in order to qualify now.

I think at one time, it was the Anglos and Irish and German or Northern European decedents that considered themselves White only. Those who were Southern European, Spanish, Italians, Greeks etc. were the 'Others', It has been scientifically proven that those Europeans in the South have a much bigger black dna. This because of being just across the water from Africa,

It was my Moms Dad. I think the way Oklahoma is you have to be 1/8th. If my math is right on my Grandpa i would be 1/16. Had an aunt on my wifes side who Worked for Cherokee nation she took everything i told her and it was not enough. Now if my Grandpa was more Cherokee then i could get my card. Beofre i stated working on this they said my Mom could be become a member but at that time she was sick with kidney failure and didnt know much. She said her Dad told her they were Black Dutch. But my Grandpas Dad got 160 acre allotment. It was the house i grew up in. I didnt try to ind out any of this until i retired. People who could have told we all gone. One cousin is the one who told most of it. It would my Grandpa s sister. So i am going to just quit trying now. But i would have loved to know more about them.

Robin DiAngelo, the author of the bestselling antiracist book, White Fragility, insisted that racial minorities should separate themselves from white Americans. “People of color need to get away from White people and have some community with each other,” DiAngelo chuckled during a webinar entitled,“Racial Justice: The Next Frontier,” hosted on March 1. linkMy lady is black. Anyone who believes that is a negative can go satisfy( aka fuck themselves.) Color means nothing. Not pointing at you JMA...

As a white, 2nd gen American of Italian heritage my advice to black people would be the exact opposite. Try to make friends with people of other races. More togetherness is what we need. Our children need to be brought up colorblind and enjoy making friends with others who don't have to look like themselves. Finding the common values and beliefs we share is what breaks down barriers.
For me personally, it came naturally as a born again Christian. I can feel a sense of familiarity and comfort being in the presence of other true believers regardless of race. I have black "Aunties" and "cousins." We visit each other, go on vacations together and, of course, go to each other's churches and worship together. The strongest force in the world is love, it can cover a multitude of sins and conquer hate. The only people I avoid like the plague are hate mongers who are on a mission to set the world on fire.

I see no reason for you to quote me @im2. You see things your way and I see things my way. You can state your opinion about what the author said as is the subject of this thread. As for my opening comment, I disagree with the author's belief that black people need to separate from white people, that's my opinion and contribution to this discussion. I'd appreciate it if you would not keep using everything I post as an opportunity to twist the meaning of my words so you can grind your ax. You fall into the category of my closing statement.

I advocate only love and togetherness as a way to move forward as the human race, full stop. If you have a problem with that, that's your problem im2. The author expressed her opinion, I countered it with mine. I don't waste my time personally attacking other board members because I dont like their opinions. There's a big difference between productive conversation and angry diatribe. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It is extremely rude to personally attack someone who isn't even addressing you.

Name one instance where I "ran down" black people.
"Lecture" really? I countered the author's opinion which is the topic of this thread. You are so filled with anger and bitterness all you see is racism, racism, racism.

I posted the article because I thought her message was a bit 'off' from what would be a way to help end what little racism remains.
Harmony while living together ends racism, attacking others does not.

You decided to lecture on what blacks need to do as if whites aren't contributors to the problem. Robin DiAngelo was the one lecturing "blacks" on what they need to do and how society needs to exclude from the workforce people who do not comply with her toxic leftist belief system.
